D.O.E BOY PHiLLY is a rare breed... Raised in a segment of Southwest Philadelphia commonly nicknamed "The Bottom," where looking over one's shoulder is a necessary habit, DBP is no stranger to sleepless grinds on the 'corner night shift', and the tandem paranoia and tragedies of a lifestyle often-worn deliberately on the sleeves of 'focus-grouped' rappers like a club guido's gaudy button-down... Mr. Chris Walker knows better than to play himself.

An aficionado, raised listening to Classic Soul music- it is still Mr. Walker's genre of choice- an apparent influence in both side's of D.B.P's trade. The level of depth/sincerity in his lyrics is atypical for many emcees of the same "edge..." and combined with his non-sugar-coating delivery, to find fans quoting his lines on social media regularly shouldn't be surprising, His talent for extracting gripping samples from multiple sources, leaving just-enough of each intact for the layered hints of familiarity to carry the melodies... A style that's earned D.O.E BOY the attentions of modern rap mainstays 50 Cent, Fabolous, and [a post-hiatus] Charles Hamilton.

Usually preferring to rap over his own production, the listener takes in audio and vocals as perfectly-aligned, complementary expressions of character and angst that knock the wind out of the [active] listener when a topic lands close to home... Though his cadences and expletives can be brash and vulgar for delicate ears, a closer listen reveals an intricate, multi-dimensional personality who deserves a robust listen... Refusing to be categorized by the superficial aspects of rap propels the aura of an old soul even more... which those who compared D.B.P to Jay Electronica, and others that dubbed him "Philly's Big K.R.I.T." must have also noticed upon the release of his free debut EP, "Deuce & a Quarter Sh!t" when it first circulated. The sequel is in the works... and RiGHT NOW, we have The MiNT TAPE: an ideal segue between the anticipated sequel and its predecessor... Not to mention, accompanied by a highly limited edition of mint-colored cassettes with a B-side full of bonus freestyles that aren't available on the digital-only DL.

Straight-forward, personally-candid lyricism is consistent throughout DBP's catalog, which can be felt in the stress-releasing tone of his cadences, with the clarity and confidence of a military drill sergeant. This man deserves every ounce of respect and acclaim he's given... DON'T SLEEP ON D.O.E BOY PHILLY!
